About Evie B's
With over 10 years professional childcare experience, and almost 16 years personal experience as a mother, I can offer a safe, warm and happy environment for your child to thrive, flourish and grow. As well as offering a home from home environment, I pride myself on high quality of care with an emphasis on learning through play. I feel strongly about following a child's lead in terms of what their interests are and what they like to do. I also can offer free-flow access to the outdoors through the patio doors at the rear of the Nursery. The outdoors offers such a wealth of learning opportunities, that I will ensure we spend as much time outside as possible; making sure your child is sleepy and rosy cheeked from the day's events! My home is conveniently situated 4 miles South West of Northallerton in the rural village of Morton on Swale. Also convenient for the A1 for commuting parents, on the doorstep of RAF Leeming and only a 10 minute drive from Bedale.

Ofsted and CRB Approval. Up to date first aid qualification.

Qualifications

I graduated with my BA Honours degree in Early Childhood Education in 2012, have been DBS checked, and am subscribed to the update service, for regular safeguarding monitoring. I hold a higher level Safeguarding and Child Protection qualification (level 2), and a full paediatric first aid qualification as recognised and approved by Ofsted. I keep up to date with all curricular legislation through regular training and courses.

I worked as an Early Years assistant between 2006-2010 and was promoted to Deputy Manager between 2010-2011 at South Otterington Pre-School.

I loved working at this popular setting and have kept close contact with the staff since I left. It is from the pre-school I built on my ethos of child-led play-based learning.

Self Improvement Programme

I regularly reflect on my practice and work hard to maintain a high level of care for my children. My training is ongoing and I am always readily available to take feedback from parents. I meet regularly with my assistant to discuss development in leadership and management, teaching learning and assessment, and behaviour and welfare of the children in our care. My assistant is also regularly monitored in order to support her professional development. All ongoing professional development is recorded and used to assist our improving our day to day practice.

 Meet the staff!

Lucy is 21 years old and has been my assistant since November 2015. She has become part of the heart of Evie B's and the children adore her. Lucy studied towards her level 3 in Early Years Education, completing her qualification in February 2017. She proved to be an excellent student, and passed with flying colours, studying alongside a 40 hour week! Needless to say I am so very proud of her, and so very proud to have mentored her through her work, and watched her grow and develop into an outstanding practitioner. I am incredibly lucky to be working with such a dedicated, hard working, gentle and sincere individual. In her spare time Lucy is a keen horse rider, and so particularly enjoys discovering the great outdoors with the little ones. During our Ofsted inspection in May 2018, the inspector referred to Lucy as an 'outstanding practitioner in her own right' when being observed with the children, and I couldn't agree more! Lucy holds an up to date DBS paediatrics first aid certificate, and regularly updates her training alongside myself.

Emma joined us in July 2018 as cover staff. Mummy to one of my beloved busy bees and cherished friend over the years, she is a huge asset to Evie B's! Emma is gentle and caring towards the children, and is a hard-working lady during her spare time. Emma's qualifications include levels 2 in mental health awareness and councelling adults and children. Her qualifications will greatly help to support her job role and we are enjoying having her in our team! Emma holds a full DBS certificate and is due to undergo her first aid training in the near future.
